Doc Africa

A patient and doctor management platform built for the realities of healthcare in African markets.

Doc Africa product concept in a branded setting

Project overview

Doc Africa brings patient and doctor management into a shared workspace for clinic teams. This portfolio design explores the administrative journey around a visit: finding the right record, arranging an appointment, coordinating rooms and clinicians, and keeping follow-up work visible. Four interface concepts connect reception, consultation and staff coordination through consistent navigation. The focus is continuity of information across those handoffs, with a clear distinction between patient details, appointment activity and team availability.

The challenge

A clinic visit depends on several people seeing the right information at the right moment. Reception needs a reliable schedule, clinicians need the context of earlier visits and coordinators need to understand room availability and outstanding work. The design challenge is to connect these responsibilities without overwhelming each team with information that is not relevant to its immediate task.

  • Patient records, appointment lists and staff availability need to stay connected across handoffs.
  • A busy reception needs to distinguish scheduled, checked-in and completed visits quickly.
  • Documents and referral history need a clear place within a patient workspace.
  • Room assignments and follow-up tasks should be easy to locate during the working day.

Our solution

The proposed interface uses a shared navigation system with dedicated views for daily activity, patient context, scheduling and team coordination. The overview brings the clinic day into focus. Patient pages organize visits and documents around a single record, while appointment and care-team views make timing and availability easier to interpret. Each screen uses readable tables, explicit status labels and restrained visual hierarchy.

  • A clinic overview groups appointments, arrival status and follow-up tasks.
  • A patient workspace connects visit history, documents and referral context.
  • A scheduling view combines calendar activity with clinician and location filters.
  • A care-team view connects availability, shifts and room assignments.
  • Twelve navigation destinations organize related administrative workflows.

The results

The portfolio design defines four connected administrative views around the clinic visit, with twelve destinations in the shared navigation. The concept makes patient context, timing and team availability easier to locate across the workflow. The next validation step would involve reception and care teams reviewing common tasks such as finding an earlier visit, identifying the next appointment and locating an available room.
