Auralooma

A field-audio notebook with timestamped transcripts, semantic clip search and source-linked session summaries.

Auralooma product concept in a branded setting

Designed around4 AI workflows

Project overview

Auralooma explores field audio journals through a mobile experience built around a waveform journal with spatial memory cards. A field-audio notebook with timestamped transcripts, semantic clip search and source-linked session summaries. The proposed journey connects record moment, transcript lens, ask the archive, sound journal. Four original phone showcases establish the visual direction, while the case study defines the supporting feature set and a proposed Swift architecture.

The challenge

Field recordists need searchable spoken notes and sound references without losing the original recording context. On a phone, the person also needs to capture information quickly, understand where an answer came from and return to the original material without navigating through a dense desktop interface.

  • Keep record moment and transcript lens connected within a short mobile flow.
  • Make speech transcription correctable when the model misreads the input.
  • Explain suggested sound tags through visible references or user-selected preferences.
  • Keep changes, sharing and data retention under explicit user control.

Our solution

The design begins with a waveform journal with spatial memory cards, using large touch targets, short task sequences and contextual sheets. Draft timestamped transcripts from selected recordings. Retrieve relevant moments from descriptions of saved audio. The companion views keep drafts, original material and accepted decisions distinct. A charcoal, amber and frost visual system gives this app its own character within the collection.

  • Draft timestamped transcripts from selected recordings.
  • Retrieve relevant moments from descriptions of saved audio.
  • Offer editable environmental sound labels.
  • Summarize selected transcripts with links back to time ranges.

Key features

  • Record moment

Review a large record control, live-style waveform illustration and location note field.

  • Transcript lens

Review a timestamped AI transcript with editable speaker labels and uncertain words.

  • Ask the archive

Review a search for rain recordings with matching clips and source timestamps.

  • Sound journal

Review tagged sessions, local downloads, private collections and export controls.

  • Speech transcription

Draft timestamped transcripts from selected recordings.

  • Semantic clip search

Retrieve relevant moments from descriptions of saved audio.

  • Suggested sound tags

    Offer editable environmental sound labels.

  • Session summaries

Summarize selected transcripts with links back to time ranges.

  • Clip bookmarks

Save a timestamped moment without losing the full recording.

  • Local downloads

Keep selected sessions available without a connection.

  • Collection folders

Organize recordings by project or location.

  • Export controls

Choose which recordings and notes to include in a handoff.

Proposed technology stack

Proposed iOS architecture using Swift and SwiftUI. AI processing, storage and synchronization are design proposals for this concept, not integrations implemented by this portfolio.

  • Swift
  • SwiftUI
  • Core Data
  • AI services

The results

The concept defines four mobile views, four AI workflows and twelve feature areas. The next validation would ask a user to complete record moment, inspect the proposed transcript lens output and correct an intentional extraction or suggestion error. Evaluation would focus on source traceability, correction effort and task completion. No usability study or business-impact measurement is claimed.
